Constitution

The Constitution of the Bar of Ireland was adopted by a General Meeting of the Bar of Ireland on Monday 25th July 2022, by way of amendment of the previous Constitution for the Bar of Ireland adopted by a General Meeting of the Bar and of subscribers to the Law Library on the 20th day of February 1914 as amended from time to time.

The Constitution is the set of governing rules of the Bar of Ireland and its members. It lays out the framework for all interactions the Bar has with its own members, clients, solicitors and the general public. It is frequently renewed and updated as situations change and laws are passed. It is a living document in this sense and reflects the current times in which the Bar operates.
