Unanimous Agreement of World Bar Leaders on new Edinburgh Declaration on Rule of Law principles

Chairman, Council of The Bar of Ireland David Barniville SC has joined the World Bar Leaders of England and Wales, Australia, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Hong Kong in unanimously agreeing a new Edinburgh Declaration to commit to the rule of law, the independence of the courts and profession and support for publically funded accesses to justice.

While the challenges to access to justice vary across each jurisdiction, there was absolute consensus amongst Bar leaders on the need to collectively confirm a commitment to the principles of the Edinburgh Declaration of 2002.
