To mark their second-annual conference, the Tort and Insurance Bar Association (TIBA) will welcome members to the West of Ireland for the day, bringing together voices of the judiciary and legal experts in litigation and dispute resolution.

The Tort and Insurance Bar Association is pleased to be hosting their annual conference on Saturday, 27 April at the Letterfrack and Renvyle Hotel in Connemara, Galway. Members can expect a day filled with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and invaluable knowledge-sharing sessions.
Speakers
The conference will commence with legal insights shared by members of The Bar of Ireland, including Chair of The Bar of Ireland, Sara Phelan SC and Rossa Fanning SC, Attorney General.
- Jeremy Maher SC will delve into the topic of damages, providing insights into developments over the past three years since the issuance of judicial guidelines.
- Eoin McCullough SC will discuss recent developments in nervous shock cases, shedding light on important legal nuances in this area.
- Martin Canny BL will discuss the intersection of business interruption and Covid-19 losses, offering analysis and potential legal strategies in navigation post-pandemic.
- Mark Tottenham BL will address the subject of expert evidence, exploring proposed reforms and their implications for legal proceedings.
- Aran Grealish BL will examine the liability of unincorporated associations towards their members, providing valuable insights into this often overlooked aspect of tort law.
In addition to presentations provided by TIBA committee members, voices of the judiciary will offer their expertise, with The Hon Ms Justice Mary Faherty, Judge of the Court of Appeal, moderating the morning session and The Hon Ms Justice Mary Rose Gearty, Judge of the High Court, leading the afternoon discussions. Judge Deirdre Gearty, Judge of the District Court will speak to Practice & Procedure and Tort/ PI in the District Court.
