Guests enjoyed an evening of connection as members of the profession gathered to celebrate the commencement of the new legal year.

Last night, The Bar of Ireland marked the opening of the 2025-2026 legal year with its annual dinner at The Honorable Society of Kings Inns.

The occasion was attended by the Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan TD, and the Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Donal O’Donnell, along with members of the judiciary, the Council of The Bar of Ireland and members of the Law Library.

The annual event marks the beginning of the legal term ahead and offers an opportunity to reflect on the values that underpin the administration of justice and the vital role of the independent referral Bar in upholding those principles. Guests reflected on the challenges and priorities facing the justice system, as well as the continued importance of collegiality, service and professional integrity within the legal community.

The Bar of Ireland extends its appreciation to all those who attended and looks forward to the year ahead to continuing its work in support of an independent and effective justice system.
