Biography
Hannah McCarthy qualified as an attorney in New York in 2015 and began her legal career with Twitter’s EMEA legal team in Dublin. She later joined the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where she completed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. Her areas of practice focused on investigations involving financial institutions, international arbitration, as well as UK and EU financial regulation with a focus on Brexit planning. After undertaking a secondment in Freshfields’ Moscow office, Hannah joined Kirkland & Ellis LLP in London where she advised on UK and EU financial regulation. She was admitted to the Bar of Ireland in 2020.
From 2019-2024, Hannah served as a member of the Overseas Election Observer Panel appointed by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
She holds a Masters degree in Public Policy from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelors degree in Law and Business from Trinity College, Dublin.
