23 April 2021
The Bar of Ireland is delighted to announce the return of the Green Street Lectures Series commencing April 22nd 2021.
This series follows our 2016 Green Street Lectures, and portrays the intersection between law, politics and literature, detailing some of the notable characters, culture, and controversies that defined the Irish State through the years.
The 2021 series is an important contribution in seeking to build an understanding of how national figures have both been shaped by, and shaped the law in Ireland.
Revisiting landmark cases and their lasting impact, the lectures will be presented by pre-eminent barristers passionate about their respective themes and delivered from the Honourable Society of King's Inns.
The first instalment includes:
22nd April 2021 - Frank Callanan SC: John Francis Taylor’s speech at the King’s Inns in 1901, and Ulysses (now available here)
6th May 2021 - Marguerite Bolger SC: Evolution of Employment Equality Law in Ireland
13th of May 2021 - John O’Donnell SC will address the Trial & Error of Patrick Kavanagh.
