At the election meeting of the Bar Council held on 9th July 2014, Mr David Barniville SC was elected Chairman of the Bar Council.

Irish Rule of Law International will host the annual ‘Malawi By the Sea’ dinner in the National Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire, on Friday 20th June at 7pm to raise funds for its Access to Justice project in Malawi. Tickets are only €65 and are available from email@example.com.

Calcutta Run 2014
Some of the members of the Bar who took part in the 2014 Calcutta Run on Saturday 17th May, which raised funds for Fr Peter McVerry and homelessness in Calcutta. Over 1,000 runners took part in this year’s event, which saw runners and walkers follow a 10k and 5k route from Blackhall Place through the Phoenix Park.
The 2014 GOAL annual Gala Dinner will be held on Friday, May 23rd at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. The black-tie evening will begin with a drinks reception in the Henry Dunlop East room on Level 3, followed by a gourmet dinner, dancing and plenty of live entertainment.

The second Bank Irish Law Awards 2013 took place Friday 4th of May in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin. The winners of the inaugural Bar Council Human Rights Award were two Irish Rule of Law International lawyers Ruth Dowling BL and Eithne Lynch, “whose legal work has made a profound change in the rights and wellbeing of those without a voice.”
